Eph 3:16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, Eph 3:17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, Eph 3:18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, Eph 3:19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Eph 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, Eph 3:21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Paul's concern for the people he ministered to bled through his prayers. You can hear a person's love and concern for you when you listen to how the plead to the Father on your behalf. Paul's prayer for the Ephesian church was not that they would excel in materialism and the accolades of this world but that strengthened in their inner beings, Christ dwelling in them, they will be rooted and established in love and to grasp how wide, how long, how high and how deep Jesus loves them.
Friends this is our prayer to ourselves and to the Pastors and Church Leaders we teach. It is useless to amass knowledge of a savior that you don't know and love. Worse still you are not sure whether He cares for you or not. God's love to human kind truly surpasses knowledge! Borrowing from a Sunday School Song: "It is so deep you cannot go under it, so high you cannot go over it, so wide you cannot go around it; oh wonderful love."
If we and those we teach are able to grasp this - it will make it easier to not only believe what we teach but also apply in life daily what we are teaching and learning. So we pray this same prayer for you, for ourselves and for those that God has graciously brought to us to teach both here in Kenya and Tanzania.
